In alignment with Manna’s mission to provide, in the spirit of faith and love, nourishing meals and supportive services in an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for those in need, Manna is proud to announce the expansion of its efforts to address housing insecurity in La Plata County through a new initiative focused on transitional support and stable housing that is safe, affordable, and accessible for those who may otherwise have barriers to housing stability.
This development was made possible through the generous donation of a residential property, which will continue to serve individuals in need just as it has over the last 25 years. Manna is honored to carry forward this legacy with care and integrity.
The property includes four individual units, all offered at rents below local market value. By operating the property as low-income housing, tenants pay no more than 30% of their gross monthly income in rent, and all residents fall below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for La Plata County.
The home, originally built in the late 1800s, is in need of ongoing updates and repairs. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the community and local businesses, some improvements have already been completed including the replacement of the driveway and walkways, tree removal to enhance safety and accessibility, roof maintenance and repairs, and the installation of a radon mitigation system to ensure a safer living environment.
This year, Manna is planning to remodel two of the individual units within the home, and the exterior siding also requires replacement to prevent any future water damage. Manna welcomes any local businesses willing to donate building supplies or services to assist with this vital project.
“We are grateful for the trust placed in us to steward this property and deepen our impact on housing stability in La Plata County,” said Chris Andrews. “This expansion allows us to ensure continuity of care while building the infrastructure needed for long-term, community-driven solutions.”
Recognizing Our Community
Manna extends sincere thanks to the donors and community partners whose vision and support made this possible. Their commitment reflects the strength and compassion of Durango, a town where people come together to care for their neighbors.
Voices of Impact
“This home has been a foundation for rebuilding lives. We are confident Manna will carry this forward with care.”

Your support, whether through donations, partnerships, or volunteer engagement, can help provide safe, stable housing that is supportive, affordable, and accessible for more people in need.
Manna welcomes future contributions in many forms, including financial gifts and the donation of additional properties to help expand this program. These generous acts will allow Manna to grow its impact and reach more individuals and families in need of transitional support and secure housing.
