Durango hit Prop 123 affordable/workforce housing target

  • Durango City Council heard an update from the city’s Prosperity Office September 15 on Durango’s Prop 123 commitment for 2027–2029. (Prop 123, passed by CO voters in 2022, created a permanent statewide funding stream for affordable housing.)
  • A few projects are already in the pipeline, including Rivergate Workforce Housing (~50 townhomes) and Lightner Creek Commons (29 townhomes).
  • The goal is 99 affordable/workforce housing units, all with formal affordability restrictions (deed restrictions or LURAs). The city hit full compliance with its 2024–2026 Prop 123 targets in August, locking in access to state affordable housing funds for the next three years.
